SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE

70 Years on Behalf of Immigrants

Beginning with its assistance to the Jews of Yemen who arrived in Israel on “Operation Magic Carpet” in the early 1950s, Yad L’Achim has been there for Jews arriving from the Diaspora. The organization has helped immigrants from Romania, Hungary, Morocco, Algiers, Tunis, Libya, Bukhara, Georgia and the Caucasus countries, as well as those from the secret immigration from Syria and the large waves of aliyah from the Former Soviet Union.

Proper Education is Rescue!

Yad L’Achim’s Counseling and Education Department refers children to suitable Torah schools. The department receives calls for assistance from parents from the entire spectrum of society. In addition, the department handles special requests that include: arranging for the admission of children from Russian homes to appropriate boarding schools; helping to register children in institutions that had been closed to them; providing tutoring for children with learning difficulties; monitoring children’s progress in adapting to their schools; keeping young boys and girls from dropping out of school and landing up on the streets, and more. Altogether, the department helped place some 1,000 children in the various educational institutions.
